London 2012 Olympic stadium
The London 2012 Olympic stadium was the showcase building for the Olympics and the
main venue for the athletics events. It also hosted the highly successful and memorable
opening and closing ceremonies. Designed to be semi-demountable, this allows for
flexibility in legacy mode without being a burden to the public purse. This same
flexibility expedited the construction program while affording a variety of future
uses beyond the Games.
Robert Albanes was the on-site Client NEC3 Supervisor during the last 2 years of
the stadiums construction. He was responsible for supervising the contractors delivery
of the stadium, checking compliance of the building against the technical and quality
requirements of the Olympic Delivery Authority.
